Apply for Accommodation

Hyelm – Old Street

Introduction

Our Old Street scheme opened in March 2008. 74 places are reserved for key workers under the Homes and Communities Agency Intermediate Rent scheme. The remaining 51 places are for people on low to moderate incomes who are in work or study.

How to Apply - Key Worker Applicants

Applications for accommodation reserved for key workers must be made through the regional agency that the government has appointed to process such applications.

The agency for London is an organisation called Housing Options. An application for a place at Hyelm – Old Street may be submitted to them online or on the form that they provide for this purpose.

In making your application, it is important that you state clearly:

  • That you are applying for a place at the Hyelm – Old Street scheme.
  • That your application is for Intermediate Rent accommodation.
  • The type of apartment in which you would like to be housed (i.e. a one bedroom flat or a place in a two bedroom cluster apartment, or either).

The Homes and Communities Agency defines who is a key worker but, generally, it is a person who is employed in a health, education, emergency service or other public sector position.

  • 18 years of age or over; and

  • in housing need and have no or few other housing options; and
  • capable of basic personal care.

Although we feel that the accommodation, facilities and services that are provided at Hyelm – Old Street are best suited to the needs of young people, applications will be considered from all age groups.
