What is Included in the Weekly Charge?

The weekly rent and service charge at Arthur West House, Hampstead, includes:

  • Accommodation.
  • Breakfast and evening meals throughout the week with additional meals at weekends.
  • Energy costs.
  • Water charges.
  • Council tax.
  • The regular cleaning of bedrooms and the communal areas within the building by our domestic staff.
  • The support and housing management service as described in our Guide for Residents booklet and other publicity material.
  • The use of the sports and leisure facilities at Arthur West House at the advertised rates.
  • Free internet access in our study room.

Each room has a washbasin. Shower and bathroom facilities are generally shared. Towels, pillows, duvets, bed linen and personal toiletries are not provided. Residents are not permitted to cook food within any part of their room or the building.

Weekly Charges (with effect from January 2010)

There are separate rent and service charges for Short Period Residencies and for Long Period Residencies:

  1. The Long Period Residency charge only applies after a person has been in residence for four weeks.
  2. During the first four weeks, the Short Term Residence rate applies.

All rent and service charge payments are due strictly in advance, including payments in respect of periods of temporary absence.

A reduction of £13 per week in the rent and service charge is made in relation to meals, services and support not taken when a resident is away for six consecutive nights or more and retains his or her room. This is on condition that the manager on duty at reception is notified in advance. A relevant form is provided for recording this information.

The Short Period Residency and Long Period Residency charges are as follows. These are per person per week and include VAT:

Refundable Fees

A booking fee of £50 is payable when your application for accommodation at Arthur West House has been successful and is confirmed. This is refunded to you on your arrival. The booking fee is not refundable should you decide to cancel your booking.

You will be asked to pay a further fee of £10 for your room and front door keys when you arrive. This is refunded to you when you return your keys to us on your departure.

Important Note

You are asked on our application form to express your preference as to the type of room that you would prefer. As most of our rooms are of the large twin variety, it is most likely that you will be offered a space in one of these until the room of your choice becomes available.
