Hyelm are hiring!

OMarston 03/15/18

Board Chair

Voluntary role.

Reasonable Expenses Paid.

Offices in Central London.

The Hyelm Group provides high standards of affordable, rented accommodation and services in the capital for 125 young people who are in the early stages of their careers, have no support needs, cannot afford to rent or buy in the private sector and are unable to stay within the family network.

A very strong emphasis is placed on creating positive, stable, safe environments and strong communities in which lasting friendships can develop in an otherwise vibrant but challenging, and sometimes impersonal, capital city.

We are the only organisation in London that offers the type of accommodation and services that we do specifically for young people in this way.

In response to a considerable and growing demand, we have now embarked on a very exciting stage in the further development and progress of our organisation.

Our initial plan is to build homes for a further 250 young workers over the next three years in two new housing schemes in great London locations at a time when decent and affordable housing is almost impossible for them to find.

With this in mind and in view of the particular challenges associated with securing and developing suitable sites in a highly competitive land and construction market, we are keen appoint a new Chair to our Board subsequent to the departure of our current Chair in April of this year.

The successful candidate will, ideally, be able to demonstrate:

o Commercial experience, in particular, in the wider property/housing sector.

o Experience as Chair or Trustee/Non-Executive Director of a voluntary/charity board.

o An ability to operate at a strategic level.

o An understanding of, and experience of working in, small charity/business environments.

o A strong commitment to help take our organisation forward during an exciting time in its progress and development.

o Drive and passion for the work that we do.

Closing date: Midday on 10th April 2018. Interview date: The evening of 18th April 2018.
